Authorities removed a statue of Barack Obama from a park in the Indonesian capital due to a public backlash and moved it Monday to a nearby elementary school that the U.S. president attended as a child.
I have a suggestion for what could replace the statue…

I never did think that statue look anything like Obama.
Notice that they did statue of him w/a butterfly. That’s an image one who expect to see for a girl.

I think the Indonesians already figured out Obama. Anytime a memorial or statue of a person or event is moved due to controversy, then the memory is on its way to being diminished.
I used to see a bunch of folks wearing Obama t-shirts. But not any more. And all those chicken shacks & BBQ places that had Obama name on in in Texas…. well, they took his name down.
Other day I went to federal building and noticed that the black history month display has downplayed Obama’s image. Instead of a real photo of him, they put up a barely recognizable crude drawing of him in the background. They put Thurgood Marshall pix to cover up Obama.

A far cry from his vision of a DC memorial in his honor ala Lincoln or his likeness added to Mt Rushmore…
That bronze statuette with him as a child playing with a butterfly is a hoot.
I am happy to see it removed and relocated to an obscure location and perhaps pigtails can be added to it to round out the context.
