Return of the Dixiecrats

The States’ Rights Democratic Party was a short-lived splinter group that broke from the Democratic Party in 1948. The States’ Rights Democratic Party opposed racial integration and wanted to retain Jim Crow laws and white supremacy. The party’s slogan was “Segregation Forever!” Members of the States’ Rights Democratic Party were often known as Dixiecrats.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada described in private then-Sen. Barack Obama as “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” 

Reid’s racially insensitive comments should not be overlooked and the apology should not be accepted.  Time and time again, Reid and others from the democratic party have made controversial remarks with little regard to  the consequences.

Democratic Rep. John Dingell of Michigan compared the then-GOP-controlled House to “the Duma and the Reichstag” — referring to the legislature set up by Czar Nicholas II of Russia and the German Weimar Republic’s parliament, which brought Adolf Hitler to power.

House Ways and Means Committee, Democrat Charlie Rangel of New York  called President George W. Bush “our Bull Connor.” Who was Bull Connor? He was the racist Birmingham, Ala., public safety commissioner who turned fire hoses on civil rights marchers in the 1960s.

Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri commented about the administration’s response to Hurricane Katrina, she said, “George Bush let people die on rooftops in New Orleans because they were poor and because they were black.”

Democratic Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts, who also accused Bush of racism in responding to Hurricane Katrina? Incredibly, he offered this conspiracy theory: Bush (SET ITAL) wanted (END ITAL) blacks to leave Louisiana to make it a more solidly Republican red state. Frank called this “ethnic cleansing by inaction.”

Did we ever get an apology from Al Gore, for Brazile’s assertion that the Republican Party possesses a “white-boy attitude” ? 

The only “Game Change” I’ll be reading this year will be the election results!  The Dixiecrats should save their apologies for ObamaCare.
